This is a question for you guys that load 44 Magnum, what is the overall cartridge length you guys prefer for shooting in your revolver? I have factory Winchester thats 1.592 and Hornady thats 1.592,5 and Magtech thats 1.566 and Lehigh Defense thats 1.580. And my Dads reloads he did from many years ago are 1.589. Which do you guys prefer?

I seat them to the crimping groove, or to the canalure.

The only pistol ammo that I have ever worried about overall length is automatic - 45, 9, 40, 32, 25. and with that all I'm concerned about is if it will fit in the magazine.

What Alpo said, depends on the nose of my cast bullets and the crimping groove. I swage my own jacketed bullets so I put the cannelure where I want it, so the bullet is just shy of the front of the cylinder.
