I am looking for a holster to hold my 1911 Pretty much in the center of my chest positioned horizonaly for a straight right handed pull. I want to use this for fishing backpacking and other times I have other things on my sholders that would get in the way of a sholder rig. Anyone got any ideas? Kind of like a tanker rig but I want the pistol more int he middle of my chest.

lot's of my coworkers use the CQC serpa holster with the trigger/finger lock and mount it on the front of their armor (MOLLE/PALS webbing). Blackhawk has a backing plate that fits up to their holsters to mount them as such.

Perhaps a WWII reproduction of the U.S. M7 holster will suffice. The straps and belt loop can be adjusted so the holster well rides to the front. I don't have the site address but Atlanta Cutlery has them. 44 dollars and change.

that one looks very nice but I'd be worried about the gun falling out; with all the sewing I do, I still use almost exclusively plastic or leather for holsters as the fabric can stretch enough to allow the gun to slip free of the thumbreak and fall out. Did one for my SP101 but it's verticle on my duty belt so it won't come out without some serious tumbles.

That same design canted upwards a bit, say 30' even would be much better to keep gravity from yoinking the gun, just my thoughts.
