Me and my buddy went to the range today and shot 200 rounds he had reloaded using Universal. He's shooting a Colt 45 Long and we noticed what appeared to be powder blown out of the barrel out about 6 feet from where he was shooting from. The shells shot good with no duds or anything but the powder was all over the place. Does Universal have a filler that blows out or what could explain this?

Not all of the powder was burned. May not have enough crimp on the bullet. For some, its normal to see unburned powder.

I loaded some 45 a long time ago, forgot what it was, but it left unburned powder on my hairy arms. What a pain to get that off.

Anyhow, others will chime in here with better answers.
