I know these darn things are horribly overpriced but darn. Found one at an LGS today that was just beautiful. I'd ever even heard of one before but there it was looking up at me from behind the glass case. Firpo! Take me home. I managed to walk out without buying the darn thing but as I sit here I thought I'd see what ya'll thought of them. This particular specimen is nickel plated having only been fired a couple of times. I know, how do you prove that and what exactly is "just a few" right? I could take pictures and will if I get serious about it but suffice it to say it's darn near perfect. There was no sign or hint of a mark on cylinder. I guess I'm just curious for now and would like your input on a $2500 price and maybe some things you'd look out for or suggest I ask. Also, it does come with its original box.

    Thanks Guys

    Run!
If that Viper checks out as genuine,
with the factory box, then that gun is a steal at $2500.

You NEVER lose money on a Colt! Especially the Snake guns!
Buy it. Don't look back. No buyer's remorse!

Offer $2000. Meet in the middle.

    38 SPL or 357 Mag?

Doesn't matter, if that has not been professionally refinished, it's worth it's weight in gold.

Apparently they were only made in 1977 and only in .38 Special. Seems like a pretty rare animal.

Any signs of refinishing? (Does it have a Crisp Colt, stampings, etc)

It looks like it just came out of the box, completely unmolested.

Call him now if you can. :)
You understand when you come across these "Deals" that can make you lots of money down the road, that you never see that money because you develop a relationship with the gun, you understand that, right?

I really shouldn't have looked, now it's sounding more and more like I have a decision to make.

How bout I give you $1250, we split the cost. It stays in my gun safe until I can buy your share out? :D

On a serious note, ask him how long it's been in his case. Longer than 2 weeks, red flag.

Just to solve problems and custody issues while you two decide who is going to buy who out I'd be willing to be it's 'foster parent' and let it live in my gun safe.
