I recently bought a Norinco SKS, and I was wondering if its possible to modify it to accept AK magazines? I know they sell 30 round detachable SKS replacement mags, which are much harder to deal with than an AK mag.
Also, does a recoil buffer really make a big difference in decreasing rifle wear?

Not really, but close. Check out www.sksparts.com. That's about the best way I can think of.
The recoil buffer is a good idea if you're going to burn a LOT of ammo.
