My group of hunters did OK considering the circumstances,
Blue Toung deaese has takin its Toal on the whitetail population and the cancelation of hound hunting by the WDFG has let the cougar population grow out of control, an adult cougar can eat 1 deer per week, mostly mule deer that live in the Snake River canyons.

The Grope of Eight shoots;
4 Remington 700 7mm
1 Remington 700 30-06
2 300 Weatherby mag
1 Christensen Arms 300-win mag

Old "Gus" the Blue-healer likes to chew on bones and antlers.

That's the most extreme case of baiting I've ever seen!:giggle: Larry, looks like a good hunt and healthy bucks.
All you can eat smorgasbord, :ROFLMAO:
I was too busy guiding to get one, but I have an idea where a 5 X 5 (10 point Eastern) is living so I'll try to sneak in on him sometime this week if my neighbor doesn't get him first.
There's not much Fat on them this year = mild winter.

I only saw one Mule buck on the ranch, 4x4 real small rack, and this time of year, there's usually a half dozen. Stopped planting alfafa up on that part of the property, and the spring silted in. There were three B&C racks taken up there 20yrs ago. Just recently found out, the cousin and his two adult sons have been hunting it, and I found some evidence suggesting more than three bucks were taken, without tags. Past due to put an end to that bs!

I used to belong to a hunting group like that but they have all passed away or gotten too broken down to hunt anymore. I'm the only one that still hunts & hunting by myself just isn't fun anymore. I still try to take one per season so I can give some venison to the others that are sill alive but can't hunt. I really miss the stories of the other guys hunt & joking with the guys at deer camp.

F&G recommends you don't eat any animal Infected with any disease.
1. Blue Toung
2. CWD, Cronic wasting disease.
3. EHD, Epizootic hemorrhagic disease. (Hoof Disease)
Warts and Mange also.
Man sounds like i need to bring a Veterinarian out there hunting with me to perform a exam on each deer before i shoot.:(

I have ate deer that fed on corn fields in Nebraska and it was some of the best have eaten . Around here they eat mostly acorns and a few alfalfa fields maybe . Get some that taste real wangy taste sometimes . Bet them feeding on wheat and alfalfa is good tasting .
Our deer are ridge deer, no fields, apple trees etc. After I learned how to cut up a deer I have never had any bad tasting meat I have processed.

Try some high country mule deer venison. They feed on mountain mahogany, bitterbrush and sage. Some of the worst venison ever. I used to shoot my deer off of irrigated alfalfa fields along the Platte river. They were good eating, but I usually shot the whitetails that lived along the river and on the islands. Those whitetails knew where the best groceries were.

Thats so true!
Our Mule deer hang over the Snake River Breaks and eat cheat grass, sage brush and whatever nasty vegetation they can scrounge up. While the whitetails dine from the fields of Peas, beans and wheat.
weird.

Definitely a crunchy walk in this morning. Then climbing up in my ladder stand the seat had about 4" of frozen snow on it that was noisy trying to get it unstuck. My butt got pretty froze up sitting up there. :( Had 5 sets of Tracks right behind my stand, but after 2 hours sitting out there not one deer came by, or as noisy as it was not within a 1/2 of mile of me!

I'm going to try it this year. The 32-40 seems like a good candidate. A manual meat grinder will be needed if I do. I'm done paying processors.
