Already have a colt, since I think the ban will happen next year I have decided to go ahead and buy another, maybe two. Went to my local gun store today, they still have a quite a few. Of those the colts, and s&w's are gone. They have the armalite m15 with magpul furniture, the sig m400(plain jane) a couple dpms, a bunch of mossbergs, and some olympics. All where 5.56, so which would you recommend????

What kind of prices are on them? It matters what models they are that determines their prices....the sig m400 is normally around 950-1050 or so. Some dpms can be had in the 750-800 range.

double d I don't think you will find any ar's for under 1000 now. The price has jumped about 300-400 since the shooting.

I believe the mossberg was the cheapest at just over 1000, followed by the sig, I think the armalite was around 1200 not sure about the others. I have been reading up on the mossberg all the reviews I have read on it speak fairly well of it. I know you can't beat their shotguns for the money.

The ArmaLite is the best choice of those mentioned. I have been very happy with mine. Accurate, well made with great fit and finish also.

Wally World here got 10 Colt 6920's in yesterday, but they were gone in less than an hour. They have 10 - 20 supposed to come in in the next few days. The price yesterday I think was 1050. Get them while you can.:)

You'd not be dis-satisfied with the Sig M400 you listed. I have the enhanced edition with the Magpul furniture and it runs like a dream and the lower has some nice options the others don't.

right there with ya.

I went to order my Adams arms upper (gas piston driven) that I was saving for but it was backordered until May next year so I got the only thing left in stock, a daniel defense. (for $300 more than I wanted to spend) but looking at the $1k price tag, I could only think, what if by May, the price was $2k? or illegal?? So what the hey, a new upper is in the mail, my lower is sitting in the safe ready to go. (minus the buffer plate, oops)

There's been people standing in line at Oly arms the last few days, before they open, waiting to buy AR's

I love Oly arms and trusted them with my life for 9 months but I agree that the armalite is a good choice, especially with the magpul goodies.

I'm simply going to build one. My stripped lower will arrive next week. Then it's just a matter of finding the rest of the parts. Only problem is cash. Trying to see if we can get a bank loan anyway for a car for the wife so will add to the loan for the AR parts. Not sure we'll get the loan though. We arrived in the US from Finland 16 months ago and we don't have good credit, we don't have bad credit - we have 'blank' credit - no records found. We own the house and the pickup free and clear with no loans - we paid cash.

If you own the house free and clear, go for a home improvement loan and then you can buy anything you like. ;)

holy camoly, freakin' vultures. We do this to ourselves in a way but good gravy, nothing is even banned or changed yet and people are going into full retard spending sprees.

Cheaperthandirt has a colt GI issu 30rd mag listed at $99. what's funny is the "our low price:" right next to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

low price? I just bought 10 x 30 rounders for $12.50 each. Should I sell them for $1000? ya right...
