Dog shoots man,...
Associated Press — Oct. 9, 2001

EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. — Imagine getting shot by your best friend. But the triggerman in one case was a dog.

Authorities in Douglas County, Wash., said that goose hunter Michael Boyle was shot in the leg when a dog stepped on the trigger of a 12-gauge shotgun.

Boyle and a friend had been hunting from a boat on the Columbia River, when Boyle leaned over the side to pull in a goose.

Deputies said that's when the dog, belonging to Boyle's friend, stepped on the gun.

Boyle is now recovering in a hospital.
