Hello,
I am looking for help in identifying make/manufacturer and year of this antique pistol.
If you look closely at the barrel area below the hammer there is a R stamp and another circle with some symbols.
It's hard to make out maybe an E L C and a star?

From my limited research and from seeing similar wood carvings of the pistol grip and of the floral pattern, I think it's from the 1840's and of French Design, possible from Caron of Paris.

If there are other resources to point me towards or ways of identifying please let me know.

Thank You!

Belgian made sometime between 1846 and 1853. Beyond that there is no way to tell who made it or when. That R means it failed proof and was returned to the maker for rework.

The hammers would be worn or broken parts, things that happened to it a long time after it passed proof, otherwise it would not bear the Liege final proof mark.
