Dress attire concealment suggestions?

I'm looking for something that will conceal in an "office attire" situation (dress shirt tucked in, no jacket, slacks) yet provide me and those around me security in dark parking lots. The only small gun I have is a Sig P230, and I cannot afford to buy another gun at this time. I'm considering an ankle holster, even though that's not a comfortable way to carry.

Any suggestions?

I just purchased a Mini Tuck holster from Crossbreed Holsters for my Sig P230.

It makes the gun very concealable and is comfortable to wear all day long. As the name suggests, you can tuck your shirt in and the only thing visible are two metal clips attached to your belt. Hang your cell phone in between them and no one will notice.

They have a two week free trial guarantee. You really can't lose by giving them a try.

i'd go with the tuckable holster. another option is pocket carry if the gun is small enough

I have a Crossbreed holster for a 1911. It'll work for any 1911 3in up to full size.

I find the best concealment option is get the gun down low enough so that only the handle is above the waistband. This conceals well. As long as I'm standing up it makes little difference what position from say 1 o'clock to 5 o'clock. I'm left handed. However; when I sit down, even with a short barrel I have to move the holster back to 1 to 1:30 to keep it from digging in to my leg.

Also they have a belt with Velcro on the inside, and j hooks with Velcro on the outside. That way nothing not even the clips show. Whatever you do, get the heaviest belt you can put through the loops of your pants. The belt is really the key.

I wear knit golf type shirts and shorts. I can get by for a few hours with no undershirt, before the holster starts really irritating. With an undershirt I sometimes forget I have the gun on. The gun does not print under normal conditions. Tucking the shirt in is doable. Takes a while to do and get the shirt to look like the other side.

Not cheap with the belt, but it's a good solution.

Ok, so what you are saying here, with the Crossbreed holster is that you can tuck your shirt in and see nothing but the clips? Does that mean bunching your shirt up in the vicinity of the holster? Maybe I'm dense here but I don't see how to tuck the shirt in around the clips without having a bunch of shirt around the holster. I did see a video on how to use it but I can't find it anymore.

How hot does the SmartCarry get? Is the "sweat proof" liner breathable?

It won't feel hot at all. Yes, and yes! Totally machine washable. They have a liner in them that is probably plastic that sweat can't get thru. There are times that I don't even know it's there. I bought the large one, with the added pocket in the back, for my 1911A. Sometimes I use a large safety pin to shorten up the pocket so I can carry a snubby (.44 Spcl.). I can tell you for sure that it beats the Pager Pal all to peices.

I have yet to find anything that fits me so I was working up a design of my own.

I'll take a chance, Carver :)

Thanks! Another excellent idea I'll look into!
If you folks do decide to try it please let us know what you think of the Smart Carry System. And be sure to read the testimonials posted on the site.

The smart carry looks good, but what about when you sit at your desk or drive? Doesn't it get uncomfortable?

It looks as though the mini tuck would require that you also have EXTRA room in the waistline of your pants/shorts?

Not in the least. I used to drive an escort vehicle for over sized loads, and would spend all day behind the wheel. Since I didn't need to dress for this job, I usually wore shorts with the elastic waist band (makes it much eaiser to get to the gun). I have not tried the mini tuck, I just put a large safety pin in the large modle that I bought and I can carry the snubbies easily. Below is a comment form one of our members that he made to me about the Smart Carry.

Alright, thanks, good to know. Looks like I need to order one then. The largest I'll be carrying is a Glock 23 or my 36, or sometimes a Taurus 605 in .357.

The crossbreed will work with a small flat Semi Auto. The shirt can be loosely tucked between the clips and the holster/piece. The only change I can add is put the clips over the pants and put the belt over the outside of the clips and this will hide them well if you have a decent sized black belt. I would carry a cell in a different location as it evens the weight out and won't get in the way if you have to draw the weapon.

I have done the above with my SP but with a revolver it looks like I have a tumor on my hip. You will need to wear loose fitting slacks outerwise it will print regardless of what you do.

Thanks Terry. I always wear shorts so this will probably work for me. I was just curious how to get everything hidden. like you have to just bunch the shirt up in the area of the holster.

I carry a 1911 in a Crossbreed and have no trouble with printing. It is a comfortable carry also. If I don't carry the 1911 I'll carry a .32 Long in a pocket holster. Both work for me. You have to try different ways to see what works for you. The situation you are going to be in may decide which is the best carry for the day also. there are a lot of good rigs out there. Half the fun is looking. Good luck.

If I understand you correctly, you're basically just asking how a tuckable holster works.

See the picture above for reference as to what I'm talking about. Your tucked-in shirt goes in your pants (of course) around the outside of the actual weapon in the holster, but between the clips and the backing of the holster. Note that the clips are only attached to the holster at the bottom (where the screws are) so there is space where you can tuck your shirt leaving nothing exposed aside from the clips on your belt.
