    Duty Calls
    ----------

Your call went out to all your sons
To fight your war and shoot your guns
Come on, you said, It is your chore
To roust the foe from freedom's door.
Come leave your friends, your sons, your wife.
Your duty calls, trust us your life.
I heard your call, now here I lay
So far from home and here I'll stay.
Till some brave soul can set me free
And return to you what's left of me.

Thanks, Larry D. Thanks to all of you who have the inspiration
and talent to put your feelings down in verse, rhyme, prose,
stories, etc. and to share them here.

Ya'll blow me away! Keep 'em comin'!

Hehe! In fact...it would make a great poem!

Don't think our friend Catch would appreciate it much however. Hehe!

Come to think of it...Nix that whole idea.

The Catch is an excellent writer himself...don't want my buddy to counter and have me...limpy!

I have a reputation to live up to.

    Hehe!

You can talk about my Navy
and the things we used to do
as we sailed out on the oceans
and the seas so calm and blue.

You can bad-mouth all the swabbies
    struttin' 'round in Navy blue.
and gripe and bitch about the food
    our messcooks stole from you.

You can talk about the women
who were dying just to see
If all the nice young sailors
    were hung anything like me.

It ain't much but it's still working
and the girls still try to catch it.
And just like when I was younger
it's so hard the cat can't scratch it.

So Homer, you can talk at length
about things that seem too limber.
But I suspect your words are driven by
    your own shrivelled, wrinkled member!
    --------------------------------------
Hope all of you have a great 4th weekend.
    You deserve it.

    Larry,

Nice poem. You found out pretty fast that Homer has the best sense of humor of anyone on this board.

He is a bit of a poet himself, so he may be putting a poem together at this very moment. Something like....

    Roses are Red,
    Violets are Blue,
    If my member is limp,
    What happened to you?

Hahahahahahahahaha! AHHH! What a whip! Hehe!

    Roses seem dead,
    when hot they'll dangle,
    make things nice,
    Oh MY!,What an angle!

Hehe! Ah Me!...this poetry stuff can be fun.

    Goodun Catch!
    Thanks Stan...forgot the Roses stuff.

The title, " Duty Calls " reminded me of the sound of "Taps"

    DUTY CALLED

    AND WE WENT

    NEVER DOUBTING

    THE CAUSE,

    WE JUST WENT

    SO, REMEMBER YOUR MEN...

    WHO WERE LOST & ALONE...

AND WHO STILL BEAR THE WOUND.
WE'RE YOUR SONS WHO WERE GONE..
    WE WERE SPRAYED AND BETRAYED..
    ALL OUR HONOR WAS DELAYED...

    AND WE'LL NEVER GET HOME......

    FROM VIET NAM.
