Can anybody help me with identification and rough value of the Enfield rifle? If any extra pictures needed, let me know. Many thanks in advance! Dutchman

I bet grizz does, he just ain't seen the post yet. If you can find any proof marks and/or inspectors stamps that will help those who are familiar with that rifled musket.

I did find this on Wikipedia. It does appear to be your rifled musket. If you do a search for the 1853 Enfield Rifled Musket you'll get plenty of hits.

For a value I'd check the various gun auction sites. They will at least give you an asking price.

Sharps is correct in that it is an 1853 Enfield pattern rifled musket with a lock plate dated 1861. There are some proof marks visible near the breech but they can't be read due to the angle of view.

You'll need to look at a few auction sites to get a feel for what these are selling for in your location.
