I picked this up at an estate auction 20 odd years ago, judging from some of the items at the sale the gentleman was a WWII veteran. There are no markings on the knife other than the mold# on the zinc handle. I know there were 100s of makers of the third pattern and that Fairbairn thought the new handle ruined the knife.
Anyway to tell if this is a vintage WWII knife? The pictured sheath came with the knife, but is not correct. Thanks, Gary

I am by no means even a knowledgeable person on these knives, but i found this website full of info while researching a 3rd pattern of my own.
