I have an old flintlock pistol that belonged to by father, it has Shaw&Crane
stamped under the hammer, I can not find any info on this on the Web.
It has engraving on the barrel and but stock that is pretty worn, what looks like a silver inlayed oval on the handle. No other markings or numbers that I can see. Any info would be appreciated. I have included several pictures

Carey's book lists Shaw & Crane as London maker ca. 1790. Your pistol a bit later, 1800-25, much like the English Sea Service pistol of the period but not actually military.
