I'm from NJ and been living in PA since 1973. The in-laws lived in NJ.
My wife's mom is from Davis, OK, and when the kids were young, they would make the trek to OK yearly until the kids started grammer school.
Every year they would bring back a batch of ocra, bread it and fry it. Good stuff.
In PA ocra doesn't exist! We are back in the woods and the only thing that grows in the garden are tomatoes, and cucumbers.

We do have a doe w/2 fawn and a small Y buck in velet that frequent the back yard daily and help themselves to Hosta, bittersweet leaves, and jewel weed.
So I guess we do grow other things.
I am getting ladder stands ready now!

Good looking okra. The hamburger steak sounded real good also.

I've been hand grinding/chopping chuck and round roast lately - right before cooking. Taste more like it should - dont know what the store ground stuff is but it doesn't smell or taste right to me. If you gotta pay what their asking for that slimy stuff may as well know what's in it and have it taste right - at least not like clorox and hand sanitizer anyway.

The solution to okra and eggplant is to pack it with kosher salt to draw out the moisture. Rinse, bread, and fry - no slime!
Unfortunately, I am allergic to okra
We cut, batter and fry. Nothing else. No slime either.
