got this for $260. Those that don't shoot black powder probably think its a waste of money. but I thought it was a decent buy for a fully engraved 1858 in like new condition. the wife loves it too.

ASM's quality was spotty for internal parts and its probably brass under the nickel on the frame. If so it won't hold up to heavy loads.

I usually use 25 grains of 3f on my brass frame open tops. That would be ok on this wouldn't it?

I was thinking nickle over brass because the unfinished areas in unseen places look cast. still a sweet gun. I generally shoot my steal framed ones the most anyway and may not shoot this one at all, not sure yet.

As long as its not imprinting the recoil shield its ok. 25 is a little more than I would use.
