Just picked up this Gerber knife and can find no other like it online. It's probably out there, but I haven't been able to come up with it. Any thoughts on it? Thanks.

I have several custom and standard production knives but very few Gerber's. I don't think that I have ever seen a Gerber with that type of custom filing on it. In any case it is a good looking knife!

Nifty pig sticker Joy. I wasn’t aware that Gerber made such knives. Really like the file work.

    Thanks for sharing.

I'm thinking that someone took a standard Gerber folder, removed the scales, and did all the file work on it. BUT, then, I am probably wrong. I bet Bill DeShivs will know, he is what I consider the resident knife expert, I hope he comes along soon and gives his opinion.

The knife has apparently been customized.

Joy, thank you, thank you, thank you, you found my knife. It fell out of my pocket a few days ago when I was in Portland. I'll PM you my address.;) It is a beauty, the file work is excellent... and on a production knife at that.

ms6852, would you like to buy it back?:)

These are the only markings on the knife.

If I am correct, this is how it started life:

I doubt it started out as either of those models-but I'm unfamiliar with which model it DID start out as! Perhaps asking Gerber might shed some light.

Gerber seems to think it was customized from an LST. In 1980, Blackie Collins designed it. I wonder what year? According to the file they sent me, different years had different handles (colors). From the tang stamp, I'm thinking 1980-81?
