Anybody else here been into Harlem at 3am? How about Hunt's Point, Jessup, St Lewis produce market or a dozen other's!...
Many a time, circa 1972-73,partying with my brothers, having a great time,no violence,no worries........Flash forward25 yrs-NFW....Hunt's Point,etc...just waiting to load is a freak show in it's self-videoed various "scenes" happening, thank the Lord for throwaways, showed to my people back home in Al........Actual awareness of your surroundings is far more important than caliber. After retiring from 2 high stress careers then driving,I just noticed everything going on around me naturally..Anyone here that has driven a truck for 1 million+ miles will tell you,you just develop an awareness of what's going on,somewhat like a combat situation without the firepower, and are starting to react before the actual coming event happens. That's what keeps you and everyone else 80k is about to go over, alive.Same as a street situation.

I bet you can usually predict when somebody is about to be an idiot too.

I was once escorted into NYC by armed guard, after unloaded, escorted back out of NYC. Scary stuff there.

I have about 47 years of truck driving. I feel ya.

I love Vaqueros! I've got a Triple K vertical shoulder rig for my 7 1/2" 45, but looking for a belt holster for my 4 5/8. What do you use?

If you get one, let us know how you like it and pictures would be great too.

Wanted to add to my original post. Found a couple of composite , outside, belt holsters that I like, bought a good belt as well. Thanks for all the suggestions. My questions now are....I have several pistols, all but my Taurus (not a Taurus fan, it is a warranty replacement G2) do not have a safety, which is what I like. I would like advice as to use the Taurus which is my current plan) to get used to CC for a while since it has the manual safety. My .40 S/W shield will eventually be my daily CC. I am all self taught in guns and rifles and feel I pretty competent, but have signed up for a NRA CC course in a few weeks as training and professional advice is always a good thing. So, do you use a pistol with a manual safety as your normal CC and do you carry extra magazines and I am in Alabama, and a lot of stores and places says no weapons allowed, I am fully permitted, what do you do at those places, sometimes you just can't avoid them. I figure the NRA course covers that topic. Thanks in advance!

A store owned has the right to post-No Firearms-you have the right(if you're logical and rational)to decide to enter a kill zone unarmed.I,myself carry everywhere, ignoring the signs-but my gat is'nt showing so no one knows I'm carrying.

Well, when I took the course for my Handgun License, the instructor says, I can't tell you to ignore the signs but if you are concealed like you are supposed to be, nobody knows you are carrying. Your choice.

A store can post a policy, but it carries no real weight. The worst they can do is ask you to leave, and if you're carrying concealed they have no way to find out anyway.

The one exception is any Federal buildings, INCLUDING any U.S. Post Office. This is a violation of Federal law.

I don't believe it's illegal in the PostOffice..and I could be very wrong...Our local PO has a sign posted about the penalty for robbing a PO,but not about carry. You can mail firearms so you have to bring it in.

Every time I go into the Post Office, I carry. I carry concealed and if anyone in the PO knows I am carrying, then I am doing something wrong.

I worked for the PO for 16 years and it was only for the last three or four years that a "guns not allowed" decal appeared on the employee entrance.

I believe its illegal to carry in a Federal building. The PO is considered a federal building.

My go to holster for either my G19 or G26 is a DeSantis Mini Slide. I also use, rarely, a Fobus paddle. The addition to this is the key lock safe from Harbor Freight that stays in the car. Some places don’t like me carrying (Post Office etc.)
