Just a question, I really like the look of a GI Guide rod and end cap also makes it easier to take the gun down. I put one in my PT1911SS and got 1 failure to go into battery with it on the first 8 rounds. I have not shot it any more. I have noticed that the guide rod is really short, in my opinion way to short. Does any one have this type of guide rod in thier PT1911 and if so what is the spec length of a GI style guide rod. All though it is easier to take the barrel bushing and end cap off the pistol with this in it, I have to jiggle the gun up side down to work the slide back to take the take down lever out, I don't have this problem with the full length guide rod. I believe that I have to get the GI guide rod in just the right position. Is this normal for a GI guide rod ?
