a little over a year ago i got a Carl Gustaf rolling block rifle. i love the thing so got another today. this one is destined to become a 32-20. a local gunsmith is relining my grand dads single shot to that caliber, so because i like the 32-20 and he has the tooling to do the job Carl will become a trans. oh what fun it is to play with guns. some place on this forum a pictures of the first Carl Gustaf, when the new "trans-caliber" is shooting i will try to remember to post some gun-porn for your drooling pleasure.

Well now, ain't that just too cool!!!!! I'm with Don, what is the rifle now? And I gotta ask, what's your gunsmith gonna charge you and would he do one for me? I'd love to have a single shot 32-20. It's one of my favorite cartridges.

Ahhh...ok. You're gonna put that itty bitty cartridge in that great big action..... :giggle:

Rick, is there enough meat in that barrel for a liner? Seems like the 25-20 I had relined needed a 1/2 inch hole.....doggone it, I don't remember for certain.

32-20 is not a done deal. but i think it will work. 25-20 is the plan B. still waiting on parts to do the first job. will start the second when that is done. i am looking for a different action for a 38-55 no hurry there. i do need a twelve step for roller addiction. they are just so slick, i can not help myself. oh 25-20 is a 7/16th i think.

Very cool that you’re bringing that Ol’ beauty back to life. As long as we’re on the subject of single shot 32-20’s here’s mine. It’s a Holland & Holland Rook (1907) that was re-chambered long before I got my hands on it.

Good grief, they were loading that one from the muzzle...which wasn't uncommon in that game back then. I wonder if they were using a cross patch as well?

That's a beaut , Mark. I may have to give them a call and see if they will come down 2 or 3 dollars on it.;) Of the 2 calibers .32-20 and .25-20 i like the .32-20 better. Brass is hard to find for my.25-20 win. 92 and the brass doesn't seem to hold up for as many loadings as the .32-20. As far as accuracy my 1885 .in 32-20 is way more accurate than the'92 .25-20, but the '92's barrel is not the best. For me i would lean toward getting your barrel chambered in .32-20.

just looked it up, Redman liners
25-20 7/16" OD
32-20 1/2" OD
32-40 9/16" OD
38-55 39/64" OD and/or 17/32" OD
40-65 5/8" OD
if i live long enough i may do them all. then my kids can sell them for .10 cents on the dollar. and i do not care.

UPS came thru on monday, a day early. Tim the driver says they are slammed, and he has a runner already. by runner i mean the guy runs to my door and back to the truck. around thanksgiving he told me another driver drove off on her runner and left him. she must be one tough gal. my friend that works in the terminal tells me drivers are coming in as late as 10:00 at night.
back to the gun. i spent three plus hours on the bore today. full of kroil till tomorrow. strong rifling, but not shiny. took down the receiver, not as bad as the first roller, cleaned up quick. very little pitting and scratches are miner. so i started working on the flats 320 paper on a block of wood. i think it will clean up nice. i am not sure how to finish it though. the blue on the barrel is very good. which brings up a question. there is a strap bracket soldered to the barrel i would like to remove.
anyone know how to do that without putting stress on the barrel? as in how much heat is too much. if it is lead solder not a biggy, silver solder i have no experience with. any help here i will appreciate. if the barrel cleans up good enough to save i may replace it. that was my original idea.
stay tuned.
