We have recently acquired an H&A .32 XL Centre fire Revolver and would like more information about it if possible. Top of barrel says PAT. MAR. 28, 71 JAN. 5, 86 X.L. DOUBLE ACTION .32 CENTRE FIRE and it has a folding hammer. It's nickel plated. The only corresponding numbers we have found on it that may be the serial number is 188. The locations we found this number at is under the grip, on the cylinder and on the top strap. So far the info. I have found dates it to 1866 to 1899. I would like something more precise and an estimated value please. Also, any other info. about it would be great. Thanks in advance.

Pictures are helpful, your picture is great BUT pictures of both sides and every marking on it are a requirement for estimation of value. Please read this :sticky post" that you must have missed:

What does it say on the top marking?
if it reads "Hopkins & Allen Mfg Co" Then it is pre 1899
If it reads "Hopkins & Allen Arms Co" the nit is post-1899

They went bankrupt in 1898 and changed their name after being restructed.
