H & R 732 32 S&W not firing in single action

    Picked up a H & R 732 in 32 S&W it will fire in double action just fine but when you cock it for single action the hammer does not fall till you let the trigger go forward. Can anyone tell what part need replacing

    The sear or notch on the hammer may be worn, which will not allow it to properly engage in single action.

    After re-reading this, are you saying it will cock and hold in single action, but the hammer will not fall until you push the trigger forward?

    yes will cock with ease but when you pull trigger it want release till you let off on trigger this pistol was made in 66 but look almost new wasnt abused

    It could be the trigger, firing pin striker, cylinder stop, lever or lifter that is causing the binding. You will probably have to disassemble it to figure out what is going on.

    I have an Iver Johnson that was doing the same thing. The hammer would release but would not fall until the trigger went forward. The lifter on an Iver Johnson serves as the firing pin striker, and the lifter was hitting the bottom edge of the hammer. Look into the action and see if you see anything interfering with the hammers fall. The firing pin striker should rise up when you cock it but go forward when you pull the trigger.
