I have a 38 break open H&R knife revolver that has a broken or missing catch to lock the knife under the barrel. I have contacted several of the well known gun parts places on the net, but none of them have any knowledge or parts for this rare pistol. The gunsmiths that I have shown the pistol to cannot repair the gun since there are no parts available.
Does anyone know of such a pistol that can be had for parts? Are does anyone know of a practical way of repairing the pistol?

First off welcome to the forum. I'm thinking if you're wanting advice on "a practical way of repairing the pistol" pictures would be nice. Kinda hard to give advice on something we cannot see. Just sayin.

Thanks for the pic but it really isn't much help. Here's a picture I found although it doesn't provide much help either. I'd think a good smith could make the part or possibly a custom knife maker.

Yes, but the part is broken or missing and no one knows what it looks like.
wish I could find a schematic!

I'm thinking someone mechanically minded can look at what you have and probably figure out how it is supposed to work.

If you can locate good pictures of the latch, I can repair it for you.

If someone had one of these guns and would take a picture of the part, that would tell us how to make the part.
Thank you Bill Deshivs for your help.

Please post a picture of the pivot joint of the knife blade. Both of your pictures omit it. I believe that folding joint is where the missing part is.

Here are some images of the spring catch for the H&R knife pistol. It is a spring tempered part. It pushes down on the blade to keep it closed. You pull up on the finger pads to unlock the blade and fold it down.
