The prices quoted you are definately too low. H&R's have been rising in value quickly lately. The latest issue of the Blue Book of Gun Values is the closest I have seen for valuations, and even it is a little behind the times.
The values it lists for the model 686 are
    100% = $ 285
    98% = 255
    95% = $ 215
    90% = $ 175
    Add 20% for 12" barrel, probably add 30- 40% for 10" barrel
Subtract $ 35 if your revolver has only one of the two original cylinders

I have purchased 5 model 686's in the last 2 years. All excellent condition, with boxes, and all of them sold in the $ 275 - 300 range.
In the past 3-6 months, I have seen several excellent pieces sell for over $ 325. The prices are going up for the nice ones.
    Pics of my 686's
    4.5", 5.5", 7.5", 10", 12" All manufactured in 1980
except the 10", which wasn't offered until 1982

Sorry I can't help you out with a cylinder. I have several spare mag cylinders, but only 1 lr cylinder. Since I have a total of 10 convertible pieces, I need to keep 1 for myself. These cylinders are becoming hard to find, and the price is going up also.
used to find them for $ 25 , lately I have seen a couple sell on GB for over $ 45. Afew weeks ago, I was at a gunshow wher a seller had two cylinders, priced at $ 75. I went back a couple hours later to try and deal with him, and he had sold them.
Watch the auctions, and gunshows, parts houses, they do show up occasionally.
    Best
    Jim
