I recently bought a pair of Stevens double barrel side by side shotguns and went to figure out the age. I know the .16 ga was made between 1940 and 1948. The .12 ga is the problem...

Firstly it has the name J Stevens Arms Company but has the date stampings B (circled) C G. These date marking were used from 1940 to 1948, but they only used that company name between 1920 and 1940.

The most confusing part is under the 5100 marking is the word Second stamped. I could find no information on that word being stamped.
