The Lower is Essential Arms. I'm trying to identify the upper, or any other markings that suggest this gun was complete (or a complete kit) prior to the ban. The fact that the rear sight is gray suggests to me that it was also EA, meaning it was manufactured before they went out of business in 93.

The cast markings also suggest the upper's quite old. Any comments welcome.

all are Pre-Ban as they went out of business in 1993.
(DPMS bought them prior to the Ban)
lower receiver serial numbers begin with EA
some or all lowers are cast
    light gray coloring
rumored that Ruger investment casted the lowers for Essential Arms

Yes but EA didn't sell completed rifles, which is why i'm trying to identify the make and possible manufacture date of the upper. If the upper was also EA, then it was most likely sold as a kit and is pre-ban.

    do not confuse EA/Eagle Arms/Armalite
they are the ones that sold kits and lowers
and there has been a problem concerning
    pre/post ban

yours is preban, as were all

    Essential Arms that is

His concern is whether he can prove the rifle was assembled prior to the ban, and if the upper was built AFTER the ban that would not be possible.

I'm going to agree with the theory that the upper is pre-94, and that the rifle is legitimate.

Whether it is worth the $1300 or not, well, that's an individual decision (to me, no).
