I would like to copy a DVD to VHS format. Anyone
know of a way to do this and get around the
    copyguard protection ?

Sorry, I have problems beyond the remote. What happened to the good old days and the eight track cassette?

Play the DVD on a TV and record off the TV with a VCR recorder, it should work, DVD to input of TV, recording from output or auxiliary jacks..

Hey zigizag2, first of all you have given me an answer
to a question i did not ask, the legality. And as far as buying
the VHS, eh, that would be the easy way out, i would rather
look at it as a challenge, it's more satisfying.

The link I posted (which does not come up) tells of an encrypted code so that copying can't easily be done.

It's perfectly legal to copy any DVD you own, as long as you do it for your personal use.

What's your setup? I've had success going straight from DVD to VCR via coax rather than the little yellow Video cable with RCA jacks. I run my DVD into the VCR, then from VCR to Tuner and TV. I've never not been able to copy for my own use.

Connect your DVD out to your VCR in put , VCR out to TV if you want to view while you record

I've never had a problem. Are you using a DVD-VCR combined unit or separate units for each?

Seperate units. I do not have coax output on my DVD i have
S cable output to directly hookup to tv, or the other choice with the yellow cable etc. If you do not have
S video input on tv then you need an RF converter box that
converts signal to coax type signal, i have tried both
    with no luck.
