    A shotgun is a firearm subject to the NFA if the shotgun has a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length. A weapon made from a shotgun is also a firearm subject to the NFA if the weapon as modified has an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length.

    i'm no lawyer but here's what I found on federal law, check your state laws too. be careful, this is an invitation to Club Fed if you do it wrong.

    A Shockwave is a firearm NOT a shotgun-the receiver was never built as a shotgun.Crazy,of course....like my AR pistols-deputy pulls over because I'm on side of road fixing truck-look in-see a 10.5"-asks if it's loaded-I said-of course-it's a handgun...he said OK,hope your truck runs.
