I like the EoTech but on my personal defence ARs I use a prism sight-LOVE them-3x on .300Wh and 5x on 5.56...hit steel all day long at 200yds.

I'm thinking about one of those low profile red dots for a recently ordered pmr 30. Low profile will allow me to also use the iron sights if I understand a recent article I read about them. I have no idea of the accuracy range it will be with whatever ammo it likes, so once I figure that out, I can decide on a dot. No need buying a spendy dot if it shoots worse than I do.

The PMR 30 is literally point of aim at 100 yards. At 50 yards the bullet's trajectory is about 1 to 2 inches high.

I have one of those on a 10/22. It is great.

Was at the range, a guy was 2 benches over, with his 12yo and 8yo daughter. He was trying to get the 12yo to shoot an old bolt action .22. The stock was too long and the sights weren't working for her. 5 shots, 5 misses and she was done. The 8yo was trying to hold the rifle and struggling.

I put a banana mag in the 10/22 and turn on the sight. Take it over and asked if she wanted to try it. She feels the light weight. Looks through the sight and her eyes light up.

" THIS IS SOOOOOO COOL! "
    10 more shots-10 hits

    Big sister wonders back.

    2 more shots and hits

" let me try it "

    Pow-ping

" this is fun, Daddy, i want this one! "

They shot 300 rounds before they left, with HUGE grins.

    Most awesome, Mr Cogburn.

SIG MSR on firearm, did make a difference, but you have to crank it to 10 to see the dot clearly in sunlight. Is the Green Eyed Goblin now...:D

That's a great thing. Well done.

I guess half the job is the right equipment.

All of the red dot sights I have tried were only good for short range. If you get past 100 yds the dot is so big it covers two or three gongs on the gong rack.
I'll take a cheap cross hair scope over a dot any day.
