Here's the first of my 9mm lead cast. I crimped just so the bullet is tight didn't smash into the lead. My OAL is 1.125". Any comments good or bad welcomed. This is the first time I loaded lead.

. I did drop it in Barrel. It was flush at the top and when I turned it upside down it fell out with no prob. I just crimped it tite. I didn't want to mash the lead and change bullet configuration. If I need to go tighter I will. The oal is set to the data. Think that's good. It passed the barrel test. .368" flared, and crimped is .364"

Welcome to world of cast boolits !!!!
your 'crimp" looks good to me -- Since 9mm headspaces off the mouth you don't want a real crimp -
If your cast bullet is slightly larger (356) the standard exp button and a bit of bell will provide enough friction -
did you cast the boolits yourself ? what mould? diameter sized? what lube --

No I didn't cast myself, bought 500 124gr RN .356 dia. For $ 30.00 thought that was a good price. These are the first I've done. How much of a crimp do you want with lead? My crimp was -.004 smaller.

What's the lube for, the shell or the barrel?

i really don't crimp at all -- I just remove the bell --
If you have bullet movement when feeding you may have to crimp a few thou, or use a slightly smaller diameter expander plug.
Lube is for the bore --helps prevent leading --
Your boolits are probably dry luber rather than a lube groove -- perfectly fine -
On closer exam of your photo, the boolit body is a bit proud and could affect headspace.
You will enjoy this new adventure --
I recommend a copy of lymans cast bullet handbook for your reading pleasure.

Ok cool. How do you know if you have a leading problem?

id bring them out just a touch. I like a tad more of the front shoulder of the driving band to be visible, mainly for crimp integrity. and I would also crimp a tad more. Case mouth should measure .377" - .378" or so after crimp

Really nice, clear pics....KUDOS.
My OAL is 1.15" and mouth at .376-.377" crimped

Don't seat as far [deep] where the actual crimp
is in the groove [ring].

You say to bring out a bit more I get that no problem, Thanks for the advice i understand what your saying give the crimp more base to hold on too. But when you say to crimp a bit more but my crimp is .364 that's smaller than your crimp. I don't understand that part JLA. Please explain. My flare was .368.

I flared just enough to slide the bullet in without shaving lube or lead.

Yes .356 dia of lead. No shaving at all. Ill seat a bit higher. But as far as the flare that's .004 's smaller than flare. Should be good, if not ill go another -.002 then. And look at it.
