I can see this in Oregon or Cali etc. but Idaho?
Particularly in a county that has zero deaths and zero hospitalizations (according to the story)
Really interested in @Alaska444 's take...not so much about the Covid aspect, more the local political aspects.

Thank you. We have a mask mandate in Kootenai County but the police and sheriffs issued a statement at the time of the mandate that they would not enforce it. It is Hard to estimate how many adhere to this, but probably as many as 20-40% ignore it.

Even at some of the stores that require masks, I haven't seen anyone enforcing it hear in Kootenai County.

Not sure what the deal is in Moscow.

But, as a Christian, guess what the Bible says about obeying those who have rule over you?

I Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

So, Christians who rebel against local ordinances are doing harm to the gospel and rebelling against the example of Christ and against the commandments of the Bible.

As far as risk from COVID 19 outdoors. Probably quite minimal. I would say the arrests were an over response, but if these people are really followers of Christ, then they were in the wrong according to the scriptures.

And everyone just stands there singing like nothing is happening. People I sure would not want to be associated with.

I am not Alaska444 but that is the biggest pile of bull excrement that I have ever seen. Especially since the Mayor and a council member were observed at a wedding without mask according to the article.

Please don't think hearing everybody's take isn't important! I just wanted to tag alaska444 as he lives there.
I find it abhorrent. The outright attacks on Christians is beyond belief.
If this were a mosque, do you all think it would have gone down the same way?
Not to mention the hypocrisy....the wedding.
Using health to further politics is the end of civil society.

Would I be safe in betting that this mayor is a Democrat? (What applies to THEE does not apply to ME) I just can't believe people vote these clown into any office...

What is next? Mandatory scarves for women and mandatory facial hair for men? How about women must be escorted by a male relative in public (while they walk 10 paces behind) lest they be beaten or stones cast at them?

Son to Father: "Dearest Father, why must we wear these sandals on our feet?"
Father to Son: "To protect our feet from the burning sands, my Son!"

Son to Father: "Dearest Father, why must we wear these flowing robes?"
Father to Son: "To protect our bodies from the burning rays of the sun!"

Son to Father: "Dearest Father, it is winter and we live in Milwaukee!"
Father to Son: "Shut up and keep walking, my Son."

Absolutely!! I always look forward to his thoughts and comments.

They've been attacking us for decades with removal of crosses, the Ten Commandments and the like. It has simply become more blatant since Obama.

Public health initiatives are longstanding and well recognized legal tenants. The trouble this time around is politicians using them indiscriminately.

Masks in times of high risk are indeed a reasonable response to a respiratory virus pandemic. The data I have reviewed shows benefit from masks. I have worn masks since this started on a voluntary basis and I believe other folks should likewise do so.

But when the mayor and other city officials ignore their own mandate when it suits them but arbitrarily enforce it with church related events, then that is indeed a problem. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. But arbitrary enforcement is unethical and may be illegal in some jurisdictions.

We are supposed to live in a constitutional republic where the law applies equally to all.

As Dr ML King said, "An unjust law, is no law at all."

And in Acts 5 the disciples were told not to preach about Jesus. Yet, they did anyway.

27 The apostles were brought in and made to appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. 28 “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”

29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings! 30 The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead—whom you killed by hanging him on a cross.
