Now, this may or may not turn up some interesting views.

There are a few things I hate about guns and accessories, not many, but some. First on my list has always been the stamped warning on the side of a gun 'Read Manual Before Use'.

I mean I understand why they do it, but then shouldn't automobiles come with a sign on the steering wheel 'Do not attempt to drive unless fully trained'. Or kettles with 'contents may be hot'.

    Have you got any?

lol lots of them. on carbonated drinks... caution contents may be under pressure. on blow dryers. do not use in bath or shower . draino ( drainer cleaner) do not ingest ...... the list is long and endless of warnings that are common sense but the sad fact is at one time someone got the bottle cap that "exploded off of a soda/pop bottle after some dummy shook up the bottle and tried to open it, some even bigger dummy used a blow dryer in the bath tub and someone at one point drank drain cleaner.

The real problem is the sue happy world we have become. Did something stupid? Not your fault, sue the maker of the object you were holding at the time. It is their fault for not warning you or protecting you from your own stupidity.

Ladders are good example of warnings. People should know it gets unstable if you stand on the top rung or do not place against electrical wires, yet some dope did and sued the company.

Why do you think coffee has the "contents may be hot" or peanuts have the "may contain nuts" warnings? Some moron hurt themselves and instead of sucking it up, sued someone to get their retirement fund going.

It is not stamped on any guns that I own. Is it maybe a law in England but nowhere else?

"Some dope did" and they keep doing so.
Idiots have to be protected from themselves, Government ought to organize it and we should pay for it.
There is a break in the continuity of sensibility, and the result is this typre of idiot-proofing.
It doesn't work either, Idiots still do Idiotic things, just look at U-tube.
The warning/instruction I like is the Chinese translated into English by the Jap or Indian. Some of those are winners.

I hate the fact that, no matter HOW big a gun you buy, there is always someone with a bigger one -

No matter HOW much ammunition you have stored, someone has more -

No matter HOW close your new scope will home in on that hair on the wart on the frog at 1000 yards, someone has a better one -

No matter HOW fantastic a shot you made, someone will best it -

Is that more along the vein you were thinking, Trantor?

 i got carried away yep...trigger locks are a good example and the warnings carved into the barrel ( mainly ruger) sure take away from the clean lines and beauty of a good looking gun. but keeping with the thread how about 10 round magazines as an option and magazine dis-connects,

I can't afford most of them. Although that is more of a wallet thing than a gun thing. :D

Oh, jeesh! I forgot the LOCKS!

I HATE the fact that I have to pay more for my new gun because they include a trigger lock with it!

    Definition of 'Trigger lock':
A device for transforming a fine firearm into a crude club.

I say we take the warning lables off everything and let nature take its course. "Thin the heard" a little bit.

Pretty much, but warnings, trigger locks and such like.

As for your 'better than' man, we used to have a name for them 'My Gun'.

My gun can group an inch at 1000 yards, my gun has the top spec barrel, the best you can get. My gun has a trigger job by the best in the business. My gun is the one used by the SAS, Delta force and Seals. My gun, my gun, my gun.... You can checkout Saturns rings through the scope on my bloomin gun!

I am sure many here have met them, they are easy to spot, all the best equipment, they just cant shoot..

Call their bluff. 'Wow, I would sure like to see that, show me..'.

I have noticed that also -

Reminds me of the guy who has thousands of dollars worth of guitars, special effects equipment, foot pedal controlls, SUPER amplifiers -
But thinks learning to read music is a waste of time - - -

I really didn't like the laser warning stickers, so I peeled them off. As if I'm going to
    a) look into a laser, or
    b) look into the business end of a gun to look into the laser.....

Of course, one of my buddies did both when I showed him the gun......!
