1st I want to point out I own and carry a S&W Shield. It is my everyday carry gun. It is the only plastic gun I own. My wife owns a P-95 and loves it. Other than that I just don't care for them. I know they are good guns but I can't get into them.

I was in the market for an accurate 9mm handgun. I looked at the Ruger American and the S&W M&P. Both fine handguns. I ended up with a Colt 1911 in 9mm. Plastic guns just don't lite my fire. Maybe it because I am old.

You are not alone! I will not own a plastic gun. Metal guns are forever. I have never owned anything plastic that did not eventually get brittle and break. Maybe it would take a few years or maybe decades. Guns are suppose to be forever. Mine will all go to family and have to last many decades.

I can still remember the video a guy did with his name brand plastic wonder pistol where he could deform the gun with his hands when the plastic gun was left sitting in the sun a bit too long.

    Metal guns for me!!!!

Plastic guns and parts like stocks ang grips seem to work fine, I prefer steel and wood.

I can carry my all metal 1911 around all day or I can carry my Glock 19 around all day
I have done both several times and I prefer the lighter Glock

Also, this is my decison and the best thing for me, not anyone else.

I had a red truck and I didn't like it so I bought a white one!!

    It's still a free country!

Everybody gets to buy what they like and want!
    Ain't it great??

Yes it is...well mostly. I've looked at Glocks many times and decided to buy one when they come out with the steel model with a real trigger.......;);):D:D

I love the steel guns I own, but I like the plastic ones as well. I carry plastic and they serve me well.

Since I don't carry and only use my guns for target shooting, at the range or in the field at a plinking party, the carry weight of a gun is not important to me. So it is metal guns for me. I too get to choose (until the liberal progressives in CA take even that right away from me which will not be done willingly by me).

Maybe it is because of my era growing up shooting - but I am a 'steel and wood' guy. The younger guys prefer plastic/composites - and good for them. Maybe I've got a screw loose - but to me the ultimate pistol *design* is still the Walther P.38. Don't have any 'plastic guns' - but do have a Beretta 92FS that is as new as I'm willing to go. The 9mm Luger is a marginal defensive caliber IMHO, while the .45ACP is just right.

I have a Taurus PT 24/7 in 45acp weighs 28 ounces with one in the pipe and a full 12 round mag. If it were an all metal gun it would out weigh a fully loaded 1911 all metal pistol. I am at the point that after a few minutes of putting it in the IWB holster I don't even notice the weight. It is accurate and reliable. I still long for a metal 1911. So either are good for me as long as they are good quality.

    I love plastic guns.
    I love steel guns.
    I love stainless guns.
    I love aluminum alloy guns.

Basically, if I squeeze the trigger and it goes "bang" and hurls a bullet THATAWAY, I love it.
Even if I squeeze the trigger and it goes "click -scrape - whoosh - BANG" I love that one too.

    I am 75 - pretty darned old.
But I embrace MOST of the newer technology -
Never miss cranking the phone to get the operator and make a call -
Don't miss pumping water out in the yard into a bucket to carry into the house.
Don't miss plopping my warm butt down on below-zero wood in the outhouse in the winter.
Don't miss doing homework by a kerosene lamp.
Don't miss a car that rusts out, gets less than 20 mpg, and dies of old age before it hits 100K miles.

    What DO I miss?
Seeing a family at a table in a restaurant TALKING to each other and NO ONE texting.
Nativity scenes and crosses on PUBLIC LAND.
People openly calling a sin a SIN without fear of being accused of hate speech.
People seeing young kids with guns and NOT getting hyper about it.
Games that took some measure if imagination to play.
Children that are polite and obedient to their parents, and respectful of adults in general.
Seeing EVERYONE show respect for out country, our flag and our national anthem.
Voting for the BEST of two candidates for office instead of voting against the worst.

I'm with you on all of these but the age, and you've got me by 5. Also don't miss getting up at 3 in the morning to milk cows, and don't miss staying on a tractor till 10 at night to get the crops in.
