Took a fall last evening off a short set of stairs. Laid there a while to make sure I had my wits about me before I stood up. Only injury seems to be my right big toe. That dude is seriously throbbing.

I’m not too hot on going to an ER at the moment, so I’m hunting home remedy suggestions.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rick

Broken toe, they'll do nothing other than tape it to the one next to it and charge you $3,000.

Home remedies for a broken toe? I’d say ice and whiskey.

Timing is critical. Foot in or under running cold water. Ice and pain reliever in glass as needed. Wait. If it happened last night the cold water is too late.

Just go and get it checked out.
It could be broken and if not reset , will have to be broken again.
    It could be sprained.
It could be dislocated , easy fix and woundn't hurt for long.
It could be shocked and that hurts like an s.o.b. for the next 2-3 months and nothing can be done about it.

Do you really want to go though all that?

I'll never forget the time my dad showed up at the house with my horse Manny loaded ready to take to the vet, a steer had nailed him in in the rear with his horn.
Anyway, I was so upset I tripped on my shoe laces right off the top of our brick front steps. The Vet techs had to doctor me while the vet doctored the horse!!
    Ice and 800mgs of advil.

Broke mine last year. Go to a foot dr instead of ER. They can xray it and tell if it is broken or sprained and do it cheaper than ER. I waited two weeks and suffered.

First of all, you must not have heard my dad's advice. "Don't do anything stupid"

I'm not a Dr. and don't play one on TV, so I have no medical advice. All I can offer is a way to cope with the pain. Some good Irish single malt. It won't do a darn thing to fix the toe but it won't make it worse either. Unless you get drunk and fall down the stairs again and bust another toe
