We inherited an Iver Johnson .38 cal., nickel, top-break, DA/SA, 5-shot revolver. Manufacturer's name and location stamp (only) on top of barrel. Serial number #11766 on the bottom of the trigger guard matches that on the left side of the butt frame (H11766). The right side of the butt frame is stamped with what appears to be the number 1. No other markings. It is in very, very good shape. Not interested in shooting it, but would be interested in anything you can tell me about it: manufacture date, value, etc.

There are folks here who can narrow down the manufacture date by the info you provided. There are no good records on the olf Off-Brand firearms; unlike Colt and S&W. The MAIN thing to know is your revolver is chambered for the .38 SMITH & WESSON CARTRIDGE - NOT the .38 SPECIAL. Two different cartridges.

You will need to post good, clear, photographs to get much more information. CONDITION is everything!!
