Sounds great, except the air mattress. I recall once being given one to use, and sleeping on the floor next to it, horrible thing.

Well I started out with one to use under my swag, Keeps these old bones off the cold hard ground ya see. It split along one of the seams:(:(
After a couple of nights I thought "bugger this, I'm off to town to buy another" 150 miles later I had me another. Only problem was it came with a slow leak. Took about 4 hrs to deflate:(:(:( I ended up sleeping on a banana lounge. Horrible damn thing, but better than the cold hard ground.
But I've suffered worse, it's all part of the game, but it didn't seem that way at the time.
After two weeks of doin it rough we spent a night at a station (ranch) that has a couple of rooms they let by the night. Ohhhhhhh God, one night with running hot water and a real bed. I cannot being to describe the sheer exctacy or it.:):)

Hey Swanshot, I am jealous, no make that very jealous!;) I loved the time I spent in your great city and country :). Glad to have you back from the bush.Oh yea, when I was there I was totally amazed at the diversity of the terrain. From the coast to the inland bush was quite a shock. catfish

I don't sleep very well anywhere but my own bed. I can take a couple of nights or poor sleep but more than that begins to dull the enjoyment. When I go car camping for more that a day or two I take a mattress, yeah, a mattress off the bed in the guest room. If I can't take the mattress say, on the river, I take Thermarests, as many as I have room for. Most important though is diazepam i.e. valium. I take a couple of those babies and I sleep like a baby. It's hard to be uncomfortable if you are sedated. I'm afeared though on a three week trip I might get addicted, don't need that.

Swan, welcome back to civilization, I kinda thought I hadn't seen any posts from you for a while. Were you out on a "vacation" or were you working out there?
