I'm Rob - a serial hoarder of ammo components

I have been reloading off and on for decades. Last August I went to 4 local gun stores and was not able to buy primers. Immediately, I began to hoard components - powder, primers, brass, bullets...

Most of my current stash was acquired using Internet cites but some was acquired from LGS. I would often spend several hours per day seeking out supplies.

Anyway, this all stopped about 3 weeks ago.

This has occurred for two reasons (1) the supply chain has completely locked up with virtually no inventories, and (2) my large stockpile will last me at least 5 years.

It is time to move on to another hobby (obsession).

Have a nice day!

Im right there with ya Rob. It seems I can't get enough,lol. Although not as stocked up as you but going to lgs's just about every day or at least calling them to see what they have in stock, sometimes I get lucky, most of the time I get ZERO. Luckily some of my spp arrived yesterday and the rest should be here soon but always looking.
welcome to the club Rob. I am pretty much set on centerfire ammo components. What I doint have is an abundant supply of rimfire. I also have a couple of boys with itchy trigger fingers and .22s. I stood in line at walmart today for 3 boxes of CCI minimag. 1.5 hours for 20 dollars worth of ammo that my boys will shoot up in less than an hour on a Saturday
Hi, my name is kevinh...I want to be Rob.

Everybody will be in the same boat if "O" has his way, but my better judgment tells me the political price will be awful high for the dems, millions of gun owners across America; wait till hunting season and no ammo sets in. Even the local Indians are talking about the lack of ammo. When the grandma's come to me beggin bullets, I tell them to call Obama; as he doles everything out; they don't laugh much you know.

I'm set for all my hunting guns; got it all together summer 2008, bought all the 556 I'll ever need when it was $179/case, now got to get my pistol supply together. I figure it won't be too hard mail order by back ordering, had some stuff come in already. Starline, Shooters Pro, Brownells/Sinclair, Cabelas, and sometimes Midway have been my best sources. I only use Gun Shops & Sportsmans when I get into town in the summer. Good luck to everyone and I do feel bad for you all that call blue strongholds home. Might be hard to affect change politically.
I'm not proud of my hoarding but I'm not ashamed either. Several things occurred during my obsession that made it much worse. These include:

* tighter and tighter supply chain
* Higher and higher prices,
* November elections with two gun-grabbers running for president
* Newtown CT
* threats of federal gun control laws outlawing AW, big clips and uniform background checks
* Obama;s 18 executive orders on guns and ammo
* Living in NY
* New gun control in NY which creates a registry, background ammo checks and a situation that will likely outlaw Internet purchases of ammo components in NY

This situation is very scary to me. I now live in a police state where only cops and the military can have guns in NY.

when you are ready to sell out, let me know:D
I haven't bought reloading supplies in years, except for bullets, powder, and brass. As to the .22LR, well, I'll never shoot up what I have, but after I'm gone my son can certainly use it!

Don't be talking that way Carver. get to shooting that .22 ammo.

I do shoot it! My problem is a place to store it all! And no, I won't store any of it at your house! :eek: :D
I know what you mean Rob. I am still loading with components bought in 2007. :D
Rob, you need counseling. It isn't hoarding, it's self-preservation.
You succumbing to the liberal double-speak.
I advise you to come here more often, read more gun magazines, and then you'll be well again. :)
good job, way to have foresight and stock when you could... make sure you lock up ammo and components because i have a felling they will be targets for bad guys to steal...
Colorado just passed NY-style gun control laws like no AW, no big clips, etc....

the whole world has gone mad....
All this talk about CTD got me wondering; cause I've never bought anything from those guys. I actually have a sense of loyalty towards Brownells/Sinclair; always have payed a little higher prices there too but they have quality, everything you can imagine, techs that don't sell what they got, and usually are pretty well stocked up. Now, there have been times I got items from Cabelas & Midway when Brownells was out; but they are my first natural choice for reloading & shooting supplies.
