I had the most difficult time trying to find a way to spread the hood wide enough to slide into the front side rail. Than a light bulb flickered dimly but nonetheless is flickered. I remembered I had my Irwin clamps that can be used as spreaders and it worked I used one hundred pound bank line tied in loops and in less than a minute it was done. The almost our I spent trying to figure it out does not count.

Those sight hoods have some serious tensile strength. I slide mine back to get access to the front sight, but was careful not to take it off the mount.o_O
