Good to hear that report... That's a good looking piece and just my style. What color did you buy? I really like the dark OD Green.

It's black. I bought it new about 7 years ago. It's one of the last with the black billboard. Now they have a small white logo where Colt puts theirs at the back of the slide. I should have used a lighter background for the pic. The finish looks chalky when new but once it gets oiled it looks pretty good but it won't ever win a beauty contest like the big names will.

I found an old pic before I swapped mags and cut the front strap off the grips.

Thanks for the pics... So you've done no reliability work at all?

Don't tell Sweet Amber... I think I'm falling for the OD green.

Nothing at all except some dry firing to smooth the trigger up. It had a good trigger but it was a little gritty, it's not now. They say it has a 500 round break in period but I never had one single hiccup and I ran several different kinds of ammo through it. Now all it gets are home cast 230 grain SWC's and Tula hardball. It comes with the feed ramp already polished polished and the mag well beveled amongst other things. It has a full length guide rod which I'm not too crazy about but see no reason to change. The sights are fixed Novak style but not a Novak dovetail. I think the newer ones do have a Novak dovetail but don't quote me on that. It has a lifetime warranty for the life of the gun no matter who originally bought it. Everybody says customer support is second to none and they have a repair facility in Nevada with excellent turnaround time.

My 1911 was a springfield. I did all of my own work.I left a little play. It would rattle some when you shook it. It always fired only stoves piped from crappy factory mags. I put hi end ones in and no more. I could throw it into a sand dune and it still cycled. I stoned everything. Even the trigger stirrup. But I sat by my Dad as he did action jobs on everthing, he was a licensed gunsmith for 45 years. He even turned year dropped shaped barrels for competition shooting in the 70's.
