Could really use a quality anser. I have concerns that this rifle may not be the genuine 1873 Springfield. The ramrod looks to be stainless and I am pretty sure that is a repo. The barrel end site is loose that is the upper part of the site may have been replaced it does not fit well and is pinned in place. I realized these two things when I bought it. The rest of the gun looks original enough to a newbie like me although there are no butt stock markings. I purchased the gun from Cabelas when I bought it they could not find it in the serial number listings they had for this series of gun. Not sure if that means anything. I see no other marks on the gun nothing that looks like import marking.

If the gun turns out to be some kind of fake I need to return it. Thanks for the help. Bob
