I am trying to find out any information on this five shot no hammer .38 I think. Like when it was made and what type of ammo it uses serial number is 42954 on bottom of butt

I’ve seen similar post to this on this site and someone knows about this revolver. Please if y’all know something respond because I know nothing about it and found it on my property and have know idea how it got there or when it was left here and by whom. It might have belonged to my father and i just ran across it after all these years

Safety Hammerless in .38 S&W, not .38 special. It's also not safe for modern ammunition being a black powder frame.

You have a Iver Johnson 2nd Model Safety Hammerless Automatic manufactured in 1895. It is chambered in .38 S&W and is considered a blackpowder frame and not safe for modern smokeless ammunition.

It appears to have been refinished as some point.
