I am looking for a manufacture year or range of years for the Iver Johnson .38 with the serial number H50207. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The revolver is a five-shot .38 with a hammer but the model number is H50207. I knew it was old, but does this change the date by a lot/a little/ not at all?

By the way, I meant to ask. Since it is a 38 caliber revolver from 1922, what would the equivalent/appropriate/safe ammunition be for this gun today? Thanks again.

If the fire arm is in good condition ( any doubts, have it checked by a gunsmith ), 38 S&W would be the proper cartridge. Note, just in case you are not aware of the difference, Not 38 Special, at the time many of these old revolvers were made, the cylinders were drilled with out a " step" and in some of the old revolvers .38 Special will chamber, Very, very bad Karma.

What do you mean precisely by "chamber" - as in become lodged in the cylinder or in the barrel of the gun??

As in being able to slide completely into the cylinder chamber.
