I have received conflicting answers on weather to use black powder or modern cartridges for an Iver Johnson I just inheirted. It is a 6 shot(.32), exposed hammer, top break, with the owl facing toward the grips. Markings are as follows:
Iver Johnson's Arms & Cylcle Works Fitchburg, Mass. USA
Pat. Date: Aug. 26, 96
Serial Number (under grip): C57228

Thanks, CSF

Welcome to TFF.

A 6-shot .32 with that sn is a large frame 3rd model made in 1911 for smokeless powder .32 S&W and .32 S&W Long cartridges.

(The C sn prefix was also used on earlier black powder large frame hammer models, but the .32 version was not introduced until 1909)
