I am looking for information on this gun. It's an Iver Johnson Safety Automatic and the serial number (under the left handgrip) is D28200. I would like to know what year it was manufactured, the caliber, The type of ammo (smokeless or newer). I would also like to know it's value

You have a Iver Johnson 2nd Model Safety Hammerless Automatic chambered in .38 S&W that was made in 1896 or 1897.
Its either a 1st or 2nd Variation; however, both are considered black powder and not safe for modern smokeless ammunition.

What is stamped the top of the barrel?
