A couple or three weeks ago I did some gun trading and got myself an Auto Ordnance 1911. It was in, what I would call, pretty rough shape so I PM'd Josh to let him know I would be sending it down for him to Cerakote for me. He did such a great job on the Makarov and Derringer so I knew he was the one to do this one for me.

Dummy me did not take any before pictures, except one, and it is not a great one. Anyway here is the one before picture and a couple of it when I got it back. I wish you could really see the difference in person! He did some other work on it also, some trigger work and it had a problem with lock up which he also worked on. I have not shot it yet but it was shooting good before, so I know it is going to shoot great now.

Josh is incredible with them finishes......
He puts them in the smoker and let's em rip....
but don't give him ALL the credit....
the beautiful and talented Ms Becca tends the fire box
and has recipes of her own.......
Hence the name....Smokin' Barrels !

Lucky the turn around time is as short as it is......
because Becca is pretty busy these days..... :):)

See the nice smoked wood on those grips...?
Yep, Becca's recipe...no doubt.

I too liked Georges grips. The finish I put on that particular firearm is H-146 Graphite Black, mixed for semi gloss. Its one of the first Ive done in semi gloss, most folks want either matte or satin. Its not a huge difference, but when you look at them side by side you can tell. Basically the matte will look dry, the satin will look lightly oiled and the semi gloss will look a little more oiled.

She shoots good George. I forgot to send the target with it like I usually do. but at 21 feet they are overlapping in the bull.

Josh, if not too much trouble could you post some examples of the various colors and finishes available? I saw a pic once of a satin SS cerakote finish but wasn't sure if the piece had to be SS to start with or if it can be done to a parkerized finish too.

If the rain slows down a little tomorrow, I am going out in the back yard to put a couple of magazines through it. Looking forward to seeing the difference the trigger and lock up work made!!
