Thank you, Willie! Safari Arms is no longer in business/being made. They started in the late 70s making frames and parts for the 1911 platform and then started assembling complete guns - the Matchmaster (full size) and the Enforcer (Officer size). They were bought by Olympic Arms in 1997 and production stopped in 2013 when their pistolsmith, Richard Niemer (formerly of Detonics), passed away.

I use to get a good deal from Safari when we bought their frames to build on. We bought at least 50 Argentine 1911 slides for almost the price of scrap, and started making them into 4" for about half what Colt wanted. Couldn't build them fast enough!

My first 1911, in 1981, was assembled with a Phoenix, AZ frame mated with a Colt NM barrel/bushing and a Gov't slide on which I installed adjustable Millet sights. I no longer have it, though.

Nothing fancy and # 5 of all I have owned and probably the best.
NEARLY stock 1991-A1 with a barrel & bushing upgrade, FL guide rod and a bit of trigger work and with good handloads and rested is capable of 1.5" 25 yard groups!

I also modded the sights to 3 dot and it shoots very well with them albeit they are stock and fixed.

That's a shroud to cover the long barrel. It is removable. The thing coming out the butt is there to make the entire gun legal length over here.

I picked this Norinco up about 15 years ago for $275 with the plastic case, 4 clips, and a box and a half of FMJ rounds. Never ever missed a beat.
