By Amanda Carpenter on April 17, 2009 into The Back Story

SubscribeLiberal actress and political activist Janeane Garofalo, in all seriousness, said activists who attended tea parties are racists with dysfunctional brains in a recent prime-time television appearance.

"Let's be very honest about what this is about. This is not about bashing Democrats. It's not about taxes. They have no idea what the Boston Tea party was about. They don't know their history at all. It's about hating a black man in the White House," she said on MSNBC's "The Countdown" with Keith Olbermann Thursday evening. "This is racism straight up and is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks. There is no way around that."

Olbermann did not once try to challenge her on those assertions.

The actress went on to describe the brain size of typical "right-winger, Republican or conservative or your average white power activist."

"Their synapses are misfiring. ... It is a neurological problem we are dealing with," she said. This isn't the first time she's offered this analysis, either. Ms. Garofalo said similar things about Alaskan GOP Governor Sarah Palin's brain last February in an interview with an environmental blog.

The actress went on to bash the GOP on MSNBC Thursday because it had "crystallized into the white power movement" as well as Fox News, which she said has captured the "Klan demo[graphic]."

"Who else is Fox talking to? Urban older white guys and their girlfriends who suffer from Stockholm Syndrome," she said.

Ironically, Ms. Garofalo is currently playing a role on the drama 24, which is aired by the Fox Broadcasting Company and is popular among conservative circles.

This interview was unbelieveable. It runs over 8 minutes, I struggled to get throught 4 minutes.

Warning: If you are like me and have a bad heart, this WILL amp up your blood pressure.
It is pretty vulgur but it did make it through the censors at MSNBC but now days that ain't saying much.

Mods., If y'all want to remove the link I will understand. I just feel that it is important for us to see what we are up against.

Isn’t the phrase ‘Liberal Actress’ kinda redundant? :)

    I love the phrase, "tea-bagging red-neck"!

She's another perfect example of someone who is so threatened by a differing viewpoint that she must resort to 'name-calling' - rather than attempt a normal discourse regarding the issues.

I suppose actresses have someone else managing their money and paying their taxes. Poor things. They really should keep their mouths shut...

Hmm, just like an actress to brown-nose the media.

Why is it that whenever Liberals especialy the Democrats are put on defence that I learn a new word that describes perverted acts that are only understood by Barney Frank and reporters(?) at CNN? What is the matter with these people? I must have led a sheltered life in the military, working construction, in the oilfield and the Power production Industry. Yes I have been directly responsible for the poduction of large amounts of greenhouse gases. Aparantly I didn't produce enough to help the Denver area today.

Poor dear...we've obviously ruffled a "boa feather" by daring to speak out against the unconstitutionality of being taxed to death and having our republic turned into a socialist country while our tax dollars are spread far and wide, etc., etc.

When I read such idiocy, it riles me, for I absolutely HATE untruths! An opinion is one thing...but out-and-out lies are another. It's too bad that SHE brought in the "race card" on this one. It shows how pathetically out of touch with reality she is.

I saw no indication whatsoever in all of the media coverage of the Tea Parties, that related to Obama's color. He could be pink with yellow and purple polka-dots, and I would STILL despise what he's done to our country, on principle alone.

She's earned a huge *hair flip* from me!! hah!

I watched as much as I could stomach, couldn't tell if the nausea was from her black fingernails and garb (fashion?) and stilted speech patterns or her content.
Sad thing was all her arguements were ones I'd use about the Liberal Lefties.
    Hmmmmm.
Perhaps she is just a skank with no life.

So what's next to be considered racist? The Holy Communion because there was not black people in the Last Supper?

I simply love how the liberals say they didn't vote for Barack Obama because of his race but they then assert that everyone else voted AGAINST Obama because of his race. Is this telling of what their real feelings are?... If you want to talk about intelligence of someone that's a good place to start. Explain why race played no role in your decision Ms. Liberal but it obviously did in my decision.

These people who pull the race card do so because race is indeed a primary concern to them. The people at these tea parties aren't carrying around signs protesting black/white/red/yellow/purple issues. They're protesting real issues. People are concerned about deficit spending that will undoubtedly cause higher taxes so that the government covers their expenses under a slipping dollar value. People are concerned about decisions being made that don't adequately represent their states' best interests and are pushing for State Sovereignty. People are concerned that poor business decisions are being rewarded in the banking and automotive industry. Because the liberal race-baiters can't understand or rationally discuss these issues they use the divisive non-issue of race as a crutch. It takes a real non-thinker to fall for that tactic.

Unless these idiots can rationally tell me why the fiscal policies of this administration are a good thing they have no right to tell me I'm wrong.

Also for the intelligence comments. I would venture to bet that there was more brain power packed into the front row at the Tea Party I attended than you would find in an entire Academy Awards audience. :D

You're right Marlin. We're listening to the ranting of an overpaid moron who earns her keep by pretending to be someone else. I guess the real question would be, does excelling at pretending to be someone you're not make you borderline schizophrenic? If so, that may explain Hollywood. :D
