I'm trying to find some information on this piece for a friend. He found it doing an estate clean out and we know nothing about it. Any help would be great!!!
We learned about it waaaay back in 10th grade biology class.
Like the ability to curl your tongue, the ability to taste red food coloring, and blue eyes, it's a recessive gene. If you get a hitchhiker gene from both parents, both of your thumbs lean much farther back.
You have a US Revolver that was made by Iver Johnson after 1909. In 1909, Iver Johnson switched to smokeless powder frames and decided to sell the surplus black powder frames as US Revolvers. Initially they started as mail order sales, but proved to be quite successful selling for several years. It is considered a black powder frame and you should not try to fire modern smokeless ammo thru it.
Yours looks to be the larger .38 S&W. You can check by comparing with a .38 special or 9mm which is similar in diameter. Do not attempt to fire modern ammo thru this. They were also made in .32 S&W if the diameter is smaller than a .38 Special.

Any idea what it might be worth, or how I can find out?
