Hi
I have bought myself an aging Magtec 7022 semi auto .22. Between the barrel and the fore stock is a piece of rubber which means that the barrel is not floating. My question is should it be a floating barrel and is this piece of rubber an addition from a previous owner?

Hope this makes sense
Cheers

Martin

I can't really answer the question but it does make sense. A picture of what you are talking about would probably make better sense!

That is a "pressure point". Some. 22 rifles do not group well with free floating. The pressure point can improve consistency. I prefer using thin cork myself. Several of my. 22 rifles wear them.

That piece of rubber may be there for a reason.
How does it group ?
Pretty lousy but that could be a dodgy scope. Going to try another scope and see what happens.

Agreed. I'll see what I can do. Thanks.
