I tried to search forums before asking this, but I couldn't find an answer. I have a late 50s Manuhrin Austrian "SW" PP and have always thought that I had a pretty good idea what all the markings are. Well... I was cleaning and removed the plastic pistol grips and noticed a number stamped on the frame inside the pistol grip. That number doesn't match the serial number or the police issue (SW) number.

Can anyone tell me what the number on the frame hidden behind the pistol grips represents?

Thanks!

Pictures sure would help
Pictures posted. I wasn’t sure if you needed to see what numbers look like, or if you need to see what it look like inside the pistol grips, so I posted both for clarity. The numbers inside here do not match the serial or issue number. They are all on the same piece of metal, so I don’t know why these would be different. I have also seen no mention of these numbers in my research for identification marks for this Walther/Manurhin PP.

Thanks for any help.

There may be something on the "profile" of the pistol that might not show up on others of the same "kind". If nothing else, we all love gun porn!
